Our proud history

At the Trekpad Conference and Safari Centre of the Thabazimbi bushveld in South Africa, our guests are taken on a trek through the history of this very special gaming area. Thabazimbi is frontier world: tamed by courageous men and women during the 19th and early 20th century. We hold them in high esteem and therefore we dedicate our company to these pioneers who were authorities on trekking and especially hunting!

At the beginning of the 20th century they found their peace and rest in this world of opportunity. They built their plain little 'hartbees' thatched houses all along the banks of the Crocodile River and finally 'came home'. The friendship between the president of the then Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek, president Paul Kruger (one of South Africa's major nature conservationists) and the Tswana chief Ramokoka was legendary and is a further colourful story we would like to share with you on your visit to Trekpad!

Our accommodation has the ambience of a typical pioneer farmyard but with all modern amenities. Trekpad sleeps 25 people in double rooms: De Stallen (The Stables), De Opstal (The Farmhouse) and De Herberg (The Lodge). De Raadzaal is our conference facility and De Waegenhuis (The Barn) boasts our traditional dining area
